About

State Puppet Theater – Ruse has been creating puppet art for the little viewers 60 years already. In 1955, the theater started as a self-made group, and later in 1960 it received the status of a state theater.  The theater is  located in the city of Ruse – one of the emblematic cities of Bulgaria. The city is called “Little Vienna”, because of its exclusively European architecture and cultural life. The theater is located in the immediate proximity of the Danube river. The building in which it is housed is a cultural monument built by Midhat Eshref /pasha/ in the distant 1878 as a railway administration. The cast in the theater numbers 12 people. The theater has its own studio, where are made all the puppets, costumes and props for the performances. Three artists  work in the studio.

There are not a few awards that the theater has received – certificates of honor, diplomas and plaques from festivals. During  all the years, except in Bulgaria, the theater toured in Romania, Poland, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Latvia, Denmark, Syria, Libya, Algeria, Germany, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, Belgium, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
